Investigative Business Environment Journalism Course
SAUT in collaboration with BEST-AC and ANSAF is offering a course in Investigative Business Environment Journalism for young media professionals in Tanzania. The course aims to equip journalists with the knowledge to successfully report on the business environment effectively and efficiently. At the end of this course, journalists should have the ability to use data with a compelling narrative to educate and impart essential business news to the readers. The course starts on the 11th March, 2013 and entails a total 4 weeks funded intensive training in Mwanza. The course will be followed by 8 weeks attachment period at or close to the students’ duty station (Non-funded)
During the attachment period, students will be
mentored by senior media practitioners who will review the products their field
assignments and provide guidance to nurture the skill of business reporting.
The course aims to prepare journalists to competently report and successfully
publish on the business environment. The course targets young media practitioners
with at least 3 years’
experience and or demonstrated interest in reporting on agri- business, and the
ease or unease of doing business in Tanzania.
Admission into the program will be competitive, where preference will be
given to those that demonstrate aptitude and serious interest to excel in
investigative business environment journalism. The criteria for selection will
be based on the following minimum requirements:

Professional qualification in Journalism or
Media Studies.
·
At least 3 years’ experience
with print or broadcast media in Tanzania (print journalists are encouraged to
apply)
·
At least 5 published
print or broadcast content within the last 12
months should be submitted.
·
Media
products previously published in agri-business, policy environment and
budgeting processes (national and local) will have an advantage.
·
A compelling 2
pages motivation essay
·
Brief
Curriculum Vitae with details three referees and their contact information.
·
Scanned copies of your published work and copy
of radio material ( or a web- link)
Make sure that all materials submitted are
original products and that your ownership or role (when produced in team work)
is sufficiently clear.
Note:
The nature of this course is competitive and
will require dedicated focus from successful applicants throughout the course.
There will be attachments available after the one month course at SAUT that
will require motivation letters to selected partners from students. Only
serious applicants are invited to apply.
